있다.
하지만 인간의 상상력이 현실화된 로봇은 이제 산업 공학적 측면 뿐 아니라 예술의 영역에서도 인기있는
오브제가 되어 활발한 재창조의 과정을 거치고 있다. 모더니즘 이후 다원주의 속에서 새로운 양상으로 전개되고 있는 로봇과 예술의 만남.
예술이라는 공간 속에서 로봇의 의미를 재발견할 수 있는 ‘아이로봇(i Robot)’ 기획전이 송파구 방이동 올림픽공원 내 ‘소마 미술관’에서 열리고 있다. 과학자가 아닌 조각가, 컴퓨터 아티스트들이 참여한 이번 전시에는 인류의 역사와 함께 진화한 로봇의 역사를 볼 수 있는 30여점의 작품이 특별 전시된다.
또한 14명의 작가가 참여해 키네틱 아트, 비디오 아트 등 과학과 접목된 50여점의 다양한 예술작품도 선보인다. 특히 작가들은
로봇을 친구로 생각하는 젊은 세대라는 점에서 공통분모를 갖고 있다. 이들에게 로봇은 유희적 놀이는 물론 지능과 감각을 갖춘 동반자로 인식되어 작품에서
그 의식이 구체화 되고 있다. 이를 통해 작가들은 지나간 추억은 물론 미래의 꿈을 대중과 함께 공유하고자 한다.
전시회는
<로봇의 역사>, <비디오 아트의 거장 백남준, 그의 아내 구보타 시게코>, <14인의 작가가 제시하는 미래예술의 비전>
3가지 테마로 꾸며졌다.
-비디오 아트 거장들의 작품-
백남준의 <쿠베르텡>. 백남준은 여러 개의 모니터를 배열하여 근대 올림픽의 창시자인 쿠베르텡의 인물 형상을 만들고 네온 등의 재료를 이용해 올림픽의 상징인 오륜을 나타냈다. 쿠베르탱이 스포츠로 지구를 하나로 만들려고 했다면 그는 예술로 전 세계를 하나로 묶으려했다. 이처럼 스포츠와 예술은 순수하고 열정적인 인간의 모습을 드러낸다는 공통점을 지니고 있으며 백남준은 인류
공동애의 시작 점이 된 쿠베르텡을 로봇으로 제작해 그 정신을 널리 알려했다.
